And 2009 comes to an end with “The Riptide Movement” 21 in the Official Irish singles chart with hit single “Bringing down the House”, oh and what a year it has been, a top twenty charting debut album with “What about the tip jars” (3 weeks in the charts with over 5000 sales to date) 2 top twenty charting singles “Alive Inside” (6 weeks in the charts with over 4000 sales to date) and “Bringing down the house” (currently 3 weeks in the charts with over 2000 sales to date) Outselling almost every artist in the Official Irish Charts on physical sales and the only Irish artist this year with 2 singles in the top twenty of the physical charts in the same week, the only competition coming from Simon Cowels catalog of hopefuls on the week of the x factor final December 18th 2009, even the might of the x factor could’nt keep this rocking Independent band out.
Supporting the likes of James Yuill, The Corona’s, Jack L and The Blizzards, and all this in only 7 short months. 2010 begins with a month in the south of France working on the eagerly anticapated follow up album and for tour commitments. The band are also booked to play all 3 of the major Irish summer festivals, a U.K festival, a Spanish festival, a Norwegian festival and the Bonaroo festival in the USA, 2010 will be the year The Riptide Movement become global house names. Since the birth of The Riptide Movement in early 06 music fans have caught them all over Ireland and the U.k with relentless gigging and appearances virtually everywhere!
In 08 They began work on their debut album with Legendary producer Tony Colton of Heads hands and feet, Rory Gallagher, The Doors, Ray Charles. The album boasts guest appearances from Reese Wynam of Stevie Ray Vaughan, and is published by Martin Wyatt of Bright Music Publisher/Management to Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, The Faces.
